International projects

2013    one month residency in Amman in Partnership with,
        Souriat Across Borders, Molham Team and Jadal
        Centre for Culture and Knowledge. Linocut
        workshop with Syrian refugee community.

2011    Two month Residency in Damascus hosted by the
        British Council. Portrait Studio Damascus
        Involves working in a small community on the
        was a documentary art project in response to the
        beginning of the Syrian revolution.

2010    One month residency in Damascus.
        Workshop with the Syrian Artist Yaser Safi.
        Production of the series Sham City.

2006-10 As professor of Fine Art at the Academy
        of Visual Arts in Leipzig, direction of a
        series of exchange projects between the
        Academy in Leipzig and Art faculties in the
        Middle East. As well as Leipzig workshops were
        held in Cairo, Amman, Beirut and Tripoly.

1991    One month residency at Glasgow
        Print Studio as part of an exchange project
        with the Druckwerkstatt im Künstlerhaus
        Bethanien, Berlin.

1989    3 months as artist in residence in the
        printmaking department, Tyler School of Art,
        Pennsylvania University, Rome, Italy.

WANDERER

an artists’ book made with students of the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig to coincide with an exhibition at the Kunstverein Marburg. Curated by Fritz Best and Heidi Specker. A Grimms fairytale retold serves as a means of exploring the idea of collective authorship. Produced in the Workshops of the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig.

GERMAN - ARAB EXCHANGE

Hiwar fanni (Artistic Dialogue) and Through the Looking Glass, funded by the DAAD, the Goethe Institute and the German foreign office were programmes designed to bring Arabic and German students together in a series of practical projects, stimulating debate and intercultural dialogue.
